Researchers at Aalto University built the world's first cyclic quantum heat engine inside a superconducting circuit, combining a transmon qubit, resonator, and quantum refrigerator. The engine produced positive work repeatedly near absolute zero. The study, led by Mikko Möttönen, published in Nature Communications, could reduce microwave cables in large quantum computers.
