Sikkim Schools Deploy AI to Track Student Learning

Sikkim's Education Department launched AI-FunZone with EkStep Foundation on September 20, covering 2,100 students in 71 Gangtok schools. The system records children reading aloud and math errors, building individual learning profiles. India's DPDP Act child data protections commence May 13, 2027, leaving the pilot unregulated. The MoU remains undisclosed, raising consent and data retention questions.
