A 2022 AAA study of over 12,000 cars found one-third of drivers ignore move-over laws in all 50 states. Only 58% of drivers moved over for tow trucks. The CDC reported 191 tow-truck worker deaths from 2011 to 2016, a fatality rate 15 times the private-industry average.
