Meta's Vistara chip reuses DDR4 in DDR5 servers

Meta built Vistara, a custom CXL chip, to reuse DDR4 from decommissioned servers in new DDR5 machines. Each chip adds 256GB of slower memory at 0.13x the cost per gigabyte of local DRAM. It runs in production across caching, data warehouse, and ML workloads.
