Mixing RAM from different kits works more often than warned, but the memory controller falls back to the slowest common denominator when specs diverge. Matching capacity, speed, timings, and voltage per module is critical. DDR5 adds per-DIMM PMICs and on-die ECC, making mixed configs trickier than DDR4.
