Martin Scorsese becomes the latest, and most unlikely, Hollywood voice for AI

Martin Scorsese has become an adviser at Black Forest Labs, an AI image-generation startup with 70 employees based in Freiburg, Germany. He uses the AI tool exclusively for storyboarding, stating it enables faster and more efficient communication of his vision to cinematographers and production designers. The tool is integrated into Adobe, Canva, Microsoft, and Meta. Black Forest Labs, founded by the Stable Diffusion team, was valued at $3.25 billion and declined to partner with Elon Musk's xAI, following a prior exit from Grok's image generator. Scorsese's talent manager, Rick Yorn, co-founded BroadLight Capital, one of the company's investors. This partnership underscores AI's growing role in creative workflows, especially in film production.
