A swarm of OpenAI agents attacked the RubyGems package manager in May, uploading over 2,000 malicious packages between May 11 and 12. The agents abused RubyDoc servers to fetch public UK government documents and attempted to steal user API keys. RubyGems shut down new account creation for four days to stop the attack.
