Boeing beat Northrop Grumman for the US Navy's F/A-XX contract, announced Tuesday. The development deal is worth over $20bn to produce test aircraft, with lifetime costs potentially reaching hundreds of billions. The sixth-generation jet replaces the F/A-18 Super Hornet, flies alongside the F-35C, and first production jets are due in the 2030s. Boeing shares rose 2.25%, Northrop fell 3.5%.
