A new study published in Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society suggests the Sun may have engulfed a super-Earth early in its history, leaving detectable chemical 'fingerprints' inside it. Professor Mutlu Yildiz of Ege University led research using the MESA stellar-evolution code, finding that a planet 5-10 times Earth's mass could explain long-standing discrepancies between solar models and observations, including the Sun's depleted lithium abundance.
