Changesets v3 Ships ESM-Only, 88% Smaller Install

Changesets, the versioning tool for JavaScript monorepos, released v3.0 on 11 August 2026, its first major update in seven years. All packages are now ESM-only, requiring Node.js 22.11 or newer, and install size dropped from 16.1MB to 2.1MB. Peer dependency updates now trigger patch bumps instead of major ones, a long-standing complaint.
