MIT researchers built a silicon-photonics lidar chip that scans a broad field of view without moving parts. The design uses an array of antennas with distinct shapes to cut crosstalk from roughly 100 percent to about 1 percent. This eliminates grating lobes and enables clearer, wider scanning for autonomous vehicles and aerial mapping.
