Every VC-backed e-bike company went bust. Bootstrapped Lectric just had its biggest month ever.

Lectric eBikes, a bootstrapped company, achieved its highest sales month ever, selling nearly 30,000 bikes. VanMoof and Rad Power Bikes, both VC-backed, filed for bankruptcy in 2023 and 2025 respectively. Lectric launched three new brands and invested $10 million in recent months. The company ships 90% of products directly to consumers through a site with 2-4 million monthly visitors. Lectric's CEO said the e-bike market lacks sufficient competition.
