Trump Finalizes Rule Raising US Gas Prices

The Department of Transportation finalized new fuel economy standards that cut the 2031 target from 50.4 mpg to 34.9 mpg. The NHTSA estimates this will raise fuel costs by $185 billion and carbon emissions by 5%, while the Department of Energy projects gas prices will rise 76 cents per gallon. The vast majority of 68,294 public comments opposed the plan.
