Lunar botanist grows chickpeas in moon soil

Jessica Atkin at Texas A&M University showed that lunar regolith mixed with organic matter and a special fungus allows chickpeas to sprout. Atkin received a large NASA grant to continue research on growing vegetables on the moon for future self-sustaining lunar bases.
