Hyperspace Pirate built a Gifford-McMahon cryocooler using 3D-printed piston and cylinder parts. The prototype reached -84°C, limited by air coolant and acrylic tube design. A magnetic piston mover solved the hot and cold side switching issue. Ice buildup from shop air compressor jammed the piston. Helium will replace air as the coolant gas in the next version.
