NSE Managing Director Ashish Chauhan said there have been no government discussions on the new Merchant Discount Rate for UPI payments, calling it an issue between brokers and clients. NPCI's framework imposes a 0.02 percent charge, capped at Rs 300, on capital-market UPI transactions from October 15. The Finance Ministry says 96 percent of person-to-merchant transactions remain unaffected.
