UPI MDR Charges Won't Hit Consumers: Sitharaman

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said Merchant Discount Rate charges on UPI transactions will not be passed to consumers, calling them fees between payment service providers. The NPCI introduced a 0.4% MDR on person-to-merchant UPI transactions above Rs 2,000 on September 15.
