OpenAI makes GPT-5.6 preferred model for Microsoft Copilot

OpenAI announced that GPT-5.6 will become the preferred model powering Microsoft 365 Copilot across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Cowork. The move follows reports that Microsoft was increasingly using its own in-house MAI models to cut costs. OpenAI stated the partnership remains strong.
