Google buys biggest solar project near xAI gas plant

Google purchased the entire output of the first two phases of the Steel River Energy Center in Arkansas, a 1-gigawatt solar and 1.9-gigawatt-hour battery project. The facility contrasts with xAI's unpermitted natural gas power plant 40 miles south, which runs nearly 60 turbines without federal clean air permits.
