WhatsApp banned 72,14,702 Indian accounts in May 2026 under the IT Rules, 2021. Of those, 13,79,438 were proactively blocked before any user complaints. The company received 19,859 user grievances but took action on only 399 accounts, and did not act on any of the 210 safety-related complaints.
