Norwegian research enables remote seafarer operations on uncrewed vessels

SINTEF Ocean developed a remote monitoring system allowing one seafarer to oversee multiple uncrewed vessels. The system enables real-time navigation and alerts for shore-based operators. The first 24-meter uncrewed vessel, Reach Remote 1, reduces crew needs by 75% and emissions by 90%. The technology operates within a new international regulatory framework established by Norwegian research.
