The UK government plans to soften the Zero Emissions Vehicle mandate, reducing the 2030 target to 50% electric sales instead of 80%. The 2030 ban on new pure-combustion cars remains. Car makers had warned the original ramp-up was unsustainable, with some discounting EVs and raising combustion car prices.
