Google Quietly Installs 4GB AI Model on Chrome

Google Chrome has been automatically downloading a 4GB AI model called Gemini Nano onto some users' hard drives without permission. The model performs tasks like detecting scam calls and summarizing recordings. Privacy advocate Alexander Hanff said the install happens without user consent. A Google spokesperson stated Gemini Nano will uninstall automatically if the device lacks sufficient resources.
