Star Catcher Tests Space-Based Power Beaming

Star Catcher, a Florida startup founded in 2024, will launch its Protostar satellite on SpaceX's Transporter-18 mission no earlier than Thursday to attempt the first laser energy transfer between untethered spacecraft. The test follows ground demonstrations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in late 2025 that delivered over 1.1 kilowatts to commercial solar panels.
