Anthropic collects biometric data from flagged Claude users

Anthropic updated its privacy policy to require some Claude users flagged for policy violations to submit government IDs and selfies for identity verification. The policy takes effect July 8 and collects facial geometry templates, which may qualify as biometric information. Anthropic uses Persona, a Thiel-backed identity-checking platform, to process the data.
