Tesla Roadster Patent Adds Downforce Fans

Tesla received a patent on September 29 for an electric car fan system using four ducted fans in the rear diffuser, powered by the high-voltage battery, to generate downforce independent of vehicle speed. The patent comes two weeks before the Roadster unveiling event, which was delayed due to weather. Tesla lists the Roadster with sub-two-second 0-60 MPH and 250-plus-MPH top speed.
