AMD quietly disabled RAM encryption on some consumer Ryzen CPUs, including the Ryzen 7 9700X based on Zen 5. Privacy-conscious Linux hobbyist Ben Kilpatrick discovered the change in April after installing a new OS and verifying hardware security features.
