Japan Cuts EV Subsidy Rates for 2027

Japan's METI announced on 21 October that EV subsidies drop to 750,000 yen starting January 2027 due to high demand. The maximum bonus for regular electric cars falls from 50,000 yen to 30,000 yen. This adjustment follows a 2025 budget of 110 billion yen, which was exhausted by September 2026 after sales surged 88.6 per cent.
