Simon Willison released commit-rewriter 0.1, a web app for editing Git commit messages. He built it to clean up Datasette security release commits, which contained coding agent artifacts and private repository issue IDs. The tool creates a timestamped branch for safe reversion and rewrites all commits from the first edited one onward.
