Scientists at Csiro built the world's first working quantum battery prototype, unveiled in March 2026. Unlike conventional batteries, it charges faster as it gets bigger, using superabsorption in an optical microcavity. The prototype charges in femtoseconds and stores energy for nanoseconds.
