MIT and EPFL researchers built a flapping-wing robot that dives underwater, swims, and flies. Weighing half a pound, the FAAV uses hydrophobic wings and replaceable tails. It aims to help oceanographers collect data in dangerous aquatic regions at lower cost than traditional vessels.
