Tesla Wins 2,500 Semi Order From Shippers

A coalition including Microsoft and PepsiCo placed the largest U.S. order for electric heavy-duty trucks: 2,500 Tesla Semis, doubling the number of Class 8 electric trucks on the road. Tesla expects delivery in 18 months. A financing partner will buy and lease the trucks to shippers, aiming to lower the upfront price barrier as diesel prices surge above $6.50 a gallon.
