Tower Semiconductor Plans $4B Japan Optical Hub

Tower Semiconductor and Japan's METI will co-invest $4 billion to convert its Arai Fab 6 into a 300mm silicon photonics and optical packaging site and expand Fab 7 in Uozu. Japanese capacity should reach 45,000 300mm wafers monthly by 2029, roughly 40 times 2025 levels, targeting AI optical connectivity demand.
