Uber Deploys 500 Cars to Train AI

Uber is deploying up to 500 specially equipped Hyundai Ioniq 5s starting this month to collect data from human-driven trips, aiming to help its autonomous-vehicle partners close Waymo's roughly two-year technology lead. Each vehicle carries 14 cameras, eight lidars and nine radars to capture unusual driving scenarios.
