Illinois enacts 0.2% tax on crypto businesses

Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker approved a $56 billion budget including a new 0.2% tax on digital asset business activity. The tax applies to firms exchanging, storing, or transferring digital assets for Illinois residents with gross receipts of at least $100,000. The crypto industry is pushing back, but the legislature is out of session for the year.
