Sony is converting its last disc manufacturing plant in Thalgau to produce optical microlenses. The facility previously made 600,000 discs annually for gaming and other devices before shifting focus entirely. All three hundred employees will receive retraining instead of layoffs as production volumes drop significantly by late next year.
