Google's $15bn AI datacentre sparks land protests

Google is building a $15bn hyperscale AI datacentre in Tarluvada, Andhra Pradesh, its largest outside the US. Locals say the government confiscated smallholdings after promising jobs and compensation. Environmental clearances were granted in nine days for a 2.51GW project, more than double the announced 1GW, with no public consultation. Petitions have been filed to India's National Green Tribunal.
