A home lab operator discovered that performance issues stemmed from too many unused services, not weak hardware. Removing overlapping tools like Nextcloud and Syncthing, and ditching rarely-used containers, made the server more reliable and easier to maintain. The real fix was reducing the service count, not upgrading hardware.
