OpenAI states its GPT-6 Astra model designed a hardware device connecting users to the Codex coding agent in under a week. The internal model scored 0.875 on BenchCAD 2.0, while Astra hit 0.594. Token usage for hardware tasks grew 23x since February as the team builds its own device.
