South Korea Doubles AI Spending to $16B

President Lee Jae Myung announced a record 2027 budget of 820.9 trillion won, allocating 21.3 trillion won to AI, chips, and data centers. This represents nearly double the previous year's amount, with a separate 4.7 trillion won for frontier AI projects. The government aims to train 2,000 chip design specialists by the legal deadline of 2 December.
