California bans loud streaming ads from July 1

California makes it illegal for streaming platforms to play ads louder than content starting July 1. Governor Gavin Newsom signed SB 576 in October 2025. The law extends CALM Act rules to streaming services. The Motion Picture Association and Streaming Innovation Alliance opposed the bill.
