Waymo faces new federal safety bill

Rep. Kevin Mullin proposed the AV Emergency Response Coordination Act requiring minimum national safety standards for autonomous vehicles. The bill follows incidents where robotaxis blocked ambulances, drove into crime scenes, and failed to recognize safety signals. It would create a 24-hour hotline and allow officials to geofence AVs during emergencies.
