SQLite allows NUL characters (ASCII 0x00) in string values, but the length() function counts only up to the first NUL, and the CLI omits everything past it. This can confuse users, as queries may return unexpected results. CASTing to BLOB reveals the full string, and instr() can detect embedded NULs.
