TSMC subsidiary JASM began construction on a second wafer fab in Kumamoto, Japan, with a $13.9 billion investment. The plant will produce 6-nanometer chips for autonomous driving and AI, with production starting by end of 2027. It will create 1,700 jobs and receive Japanese government subsidies.
