Anthropic's Claude Finds Novel Enzyme System

Anthropic says Claude discovered a CRISPR-like enzyme system, ART, after 950 AI agents scanned about 200,000 reverse transcriptase samples in 21 hours. MIT's Feng Zhang called the finding intriguing and worth further study. But University of Copenhagen's Mario Rodríguez Mestre says his team found the same systems in 2022, raising questions about novelty and whether Claude was trained on unpublished research.
