Europe opening up to self-driving taxis

The European Union adopted a test bed framework allowing robotaxi trials to begin without country-by-country approvals. First trials launched in Zagreb on April 8 with 10 robotaxis operated by Pony.ai, Uber, and Verne. Waymo and Wayve begin trials in London this year. A safety driver must remain on board with hands on lap per EU regulations. The move accelerates deployment after seven years of delay.
