Young men report more 'sextortion' than any other age group, Australia's online safety watchdog says

Australia's eSafety regulator found men aged 18 to 24 filed the most sextortion complaints, with over 2,000 total complaints between July and December 2025. Instagram and WhatsApp appeared in more than 1,300 complaints combined. The report identified persistent safety gaps in detection and prevention across major platforms including Apple, Meta, Google, Microsoft, Snap, Discord, and WhatsApp.
