NASA called off a $30 million rescue mission for its aging Swift space telescope after Katalyst Space's Link spacecraft developed persistent control and positioning problems. Swift will plunge through the atmosphere after over 20 years of tracking gamma ray bursts and exploding stars, with demise not expected before October.
