Ford Global Technologies has been granted U.S. patent #12,728,722 for a system allowing an operator to move a pickup truck in small increments by pushing on the tailgate step's pop-up grab handle. The feature is designed for precise positioning during tasks like unloading landscaping materials. Pushing harder could move the truck farther, and a dead-man switch is proposed to prevent accidental activation.
