XRP Ledger developers propose a code change allowing sponsors to cover account reserves, enabling new wallets to hold zero XRP. This experimental transaction, submitted Oct. 15, aims to reduce costs for payment apps and AI agents by shifting reserve requirements away from users. The proposal currently has 11 of the 29 validator votes needed for approval as of Oct. 19.
